While it's helpful for you to be available (especially for initial access and any specific instructions), you don't need to be present for the entire process. Many clients prefer to say their goodbye beforehand and let us handle the rest.
We follow all Illinois and Wisconsin state regulations for proper animal disposal. Options include rendering, cremation, and other approved methods. We can discuss the options with you and accommodate your preferences whenever possible.
We're a veteran-owned local business with over 40 years of combined experience. We're not a corporate service — we're your neighbors who genuinely care about this community and your animals. We treat every situation with compassion, arrive on time, and provide honest pricing.
Absolutely. We regularly coordinate with local veterinarians for timing, documentation, and any special requirements. If your vet needs to be present or needs to provide documentation first, we're happy to work around their schedule.
Yes, with some limitations. We can remove animals that died from most illnesses and diseases. However, for animals suspected of having certain reportable diseases, we may need to coordinate with state veterinary authorities first. Animals euthanized with pentobarbital cannot go to rendering facilities — we'll discuss appropriate disposal options based on your specific situation. When you call, please mention if illness was involved so we can advise properly.
We have equipment capable of handling animals of virtually any size — from small goats and sheep under 100 lbs to large draft horses and bulls over 2,000 lbs. We use specialized winches, loaders, and transport vehicles appropriate for each situation. No animal is too large or too small for our team.
Roadside animal removal is something we handle regularly. In Illinois and Wisconsin, roadside carcasses create hazards and must be removed promptly. Contact us immediately and provide the specific road and milepost if possible. We'll coordinate with local highway departments as needed and respond quickly. Please ensure your own safety and mark the location with hazard lights or cones if possible.
Yes. We are licensed by the Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) as a dead animal disposal hauler, and we operate in compliance with Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) regulations. We carry full commercial liability insurance. You can ask for proof of licensing or insurance at any time.
Absolutely — this is one of the most common situations we handle. We regularly work with local veterinarians to schedule pickup timing around euthanasia appointments. If you're planning a scheduled euthanasia, we recommend calling us in advance so we can coordinate. For emergency euthanasia situations, we respond as quickly as possible. Note that pentobarbital-euthanized animals cannot go to rendering — we'll discuss cremation and other options.
Some livestock mortality insurance policies and farm policies include coverage for removal and disposal costs. We recommend checking your specific policy. We can provide documentation and receipts for your claim. USDA farm programs may also provide some assistance for certain livestock losses. Call your agent after contacting us — we're happy to provide any paperwork needed for your claim.
Rendering is an industrial process that converts animal carcasses into useful products like animal feed ingredients, pet food, lubricants, and biofuels. It is one of the most environmentally sustainable ways to dispose of livestock. We do transport to rendering facilities when the animal qualifies (rendering cannot accept animals euthanized with pentobarbital or those with certain diseases). Call us to discuss whether rendering is an option for your situation.
Please ensure there is clear vehicle access to where the animal is located — our trucks and equipment need adequate clearance. If the animal is in a barn or structure, open all relevant gates and doors. Keep other animals away from the area for their safety. If access requires crossing soft ground, flooded areas, or other unusual terrain, let us know when you call so we can bring appropriate equipment.
